A Guide to Essential Oils

A Guide to Essential Oils

I love essential oils. Last winter I bought a gorgeous diffuser from Saje along with a few essential oils and immediately became obsessed! I love the smell of them in my apartment and find them particularly wonderful for helping me stay focused on my work, energized, and falling asleep at night. My boyfriend likes the diffuser too and will even request I put on some eucalyptus when he’s sick.

There are so many different oils and blends available so it can be hard to know where to start. They can also be used in many ways, not just in a diffuser. So, I thought I would talk about some of the most common along with some of my personal favourites to get you started!

A Guide to Essential Oils

Lavender

This one is great for bedtime! If you struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep, lavender has relaxing qualities that can really help. I personally love it and also use a pillow mist which contains lavender to get a deep sleep!

Peppermint

This is one I used a lot over the holidays because it made my apartment smell fresh and festive at the same time! Peppermint is great though if you suffer from headaches. It is refreshing as well and really brightens my mood. Peppermint is known to help with digestion as well as muscular aches and pains.

Quick Study

This essential oil blend from Saje is one I love as I work from home and sometimes need a little extra help to stay on track. It is formulated with myrtle, lemon, and clary sage to give a boost of energy and help you focus.

Eucalyptus

This one is great for coughs and colds as I mentioned above. It can also help you feel stimulated and refreshed as well!

Stress Release

This is another blend from Saje that I really love. I feel stressed a lot and am not always great at dealing with it in healthy ways, so this essential oil helps me a lot! I find putting it in my diffuser while I do a yoga video on YouTube is the perfect way to decompress from a particularly stressful day. Formulated with Roman chamomile, lavender, and orange, this oil helps fight off mild feelings of anxiety, nervousness, and restlessness.

Patchouli

I love patchouli and the relaxing properties it has to offer. It too can be nice for bedtime or even just in the evening as you wind down from your day. It has grounding, soothing qualities to it and can also be used to help treat acne, cracked skin, eczema, and inflammation.

Mountain High

This is probably my all-time favourite essential oil in my collection! It is super invigorating and puts me in a great mood. Formulated with spearmint, pine, and balsam fir, I love putting this oil in my diffuser on mornings when I need a little pick me up!

Citrus Dream

This Saje blend is great for dealing with the winter blues. Formulated with grapefruit, neroli, and lemon, it brightens up the day and helps make you feel refreshed!

Gratitude

This uplifting blend from Saje is formulated with vanilla, spearmint, and orange. It is designed to uplift your spirits while keeping you grounded. It smells inviting and calming to me and is one of my most used blends on a daily basis.
